Sketchup Pro 2015 Now Available
SketchUp 2015: Release Information from Trimble
Our biggest commitment is to keep SketchUp fast, friendly, and reliable -- for you and your computer. Here's how we've tuned SketchUp 2015:
For the first time ever, we're offering a 64-bit version for Windows machines. The least nerdy way to explain this is that 64-bit allows for more bandwidth between SketchUp 2015 and your computer's active memory. Theoretically, the 64-bit version of SketchUp 2015 should have a better working relationship with your 64-bit computer.
Don't have a 64-bit machine? We're still offering a 32-bit versions in this release, but we no longer offer support for Windows Vista and XP operating systems
We've sharpened "Face-Finder," the code SketchUp 2015 uses to create faces while you're modelling. Look for big improvements in operations like explode, especially in your behemoth-sized models.
SketchUp 2015 is now self-aware of styles that help your model render faster. You'll notice "Fast Styles" badged in the styles window, including those you create yourself.
When it comes to writing new tools for SketchUp 2015, we shoot to make features feel as if you've been using them for years. Here what's new for 2015:
SketchUp 2015 features an official Rotated Rectangle tool, so you can now draw precise rectangles unbound by default axes. We have to say: driving this tool feels a little bit like riding a bike with no hands.
With our new 3-point Arc tool -- which defines bulges by choosing three points -- there are now four different ways to draw arc'ed edges.
We've overhauled LayOut's Label tool. You can now conveniently place and align beautiful, two-segmented leader labels. We also made label text a lot smarter. Placing a label gives you the option to choose information you'd like to associate with it. Component attributes, BIM classifications, face areas: go on, label as you like.
In this release, we've rolled up our sleeves to improve things that affect how you try, buy, and use SketchUp 2015.
SketchUp 2015 licensing is now friendlier than ever before. Every SketchUp 2015 download starts with a 30-day trial of Pro features. Even better, 2015 Pro licenses can be used on a Mac or a PC. Enterprise and Network licenses? We made those way easier too. We used to give people 8 hours of active use, but we think 30 days gives our highest involved users more of a chance to learn the magic of SketchUp 2015.
With an IFC File import, SketchUp 2015 is our most information modeling-friendly release yet. We've we've also sharpened Classifier, our tool for applying industry standard types that stay with your model as it travels between BIM tools.
We've added a lot of new Ruby API features to help SketchUp 2015 extension developers create tools that manage layers, classifications, section cuts and more. Queue the next generation of information modeling tools...
How SketchUp 2015 Licensing works
The only difference between SketchUp 2015 commercial and SketchUp 2015 educational versions is that SketchUp 2015 educational versions are time limited. Whilst you have a valid educational licence all upgrades are free and you can get your new SketchUp 2015 educational licence by e-mailing us your licence details. We'll send the new codes by return.
For customers with a single-user license of SketchUp 2015, here are the high points.
If you've purchased anything from a SketchUp partner in the last year -- a new SketchUp 2015 license or a renewal of your Maintenance & Support plan -- you should receive an email SketchUp 2015 license shortly after launch.
If it's been more than a year since you've bought anything from SketchUp, you'll need to enroll in or renew a maintenance & Support plan to upgrade your license for SketchUp 2015.
SketchUp 2015 licenses now allow you to use SketchUp Pro on either a Mac or a PC. Just like always, you can authorize your SketchUp 2015 on up to two machines, but you can only operate that license on one machine at a time. New licenses will have a serial number that ends in an "R" to indicate "Reprise." Sub-2015 licenses that are upgraded to 2015 will keep the OS-specific letter: "W" or "m"
